I just love Annapolis! It's such a fun, casual town and the history is amazing!
We had a beautiful weekend here, sunny and breezy, so we decided to take a walk around downtown Annapolis, where a very distinguished visitor had docked for a couple of days...a replica of the shallop used by Captain John Smith to explore the Chesapeake Bay. It was only there for a couple of days and this history buff just had to see it before it left.
I took a few pictures while we talked with a couple of crew members about their journey and life aboard the boat. They also had an exhibit set up with maps of John Smith's journeys, photos taken around the Chesapeake, and videos of the replica and crew as they are retracing the route taken by Smith. If you live close enough to go see this at any of the planned stops, I encourage you to do so.
